The story behind Marked

Howdy, my name is Michael, and I love being outside. So much so that after graduating from Texas A&M University in 2023, I packed up my truck, attached a rooftop tent to a homemade bed rack, and headed west from Dallas. I then spent the next 9 weeks driving 12,500 miles, visiting 21 National Parks, and camping over 60 nights. I found solace in the peace and quiet of rolling into a dispersed campsite, often times with no one else around, just surrounded by nature. It was a simple, yet very impactful period of time in my life. So much so that it became increasingly difficult to describe that summer when someone would ask. Ultimately, the best way that I could put it into words was that it left a mark on me.

Fast forward to August, and the end of that incredible summer. I started my “real job”, working 9-5 in a cubicle. As the memories on my phone would pop up, it was hard not to think about when I would take my next trip. But, every time I thought about picking up and heading back out on the road, I couldn’t help but think of my biggest pain point throughout that summer. Cooking. I didn’t want to have to choose between only having a grill, stove, or griddle. I wanted all of them. I didn’t want to have to worry about ruining my other gear because a grill was going to leak grease from lunch in the back of my truck. That was, if I could find space to cram an odd shaped grill around the other boxes of gear I had. I knew there was a better way… so I invented it.

Marked Outdoors is creating the first premium cooking solution made for outdoor enthusiasts, by an outdoors enthusiast. With and integrated design, you get a true grill, stove, and griddle all in one unit. It had to be easy to take anywhere, so we ergonomically designed it to be easily stored in and around other pieces of gear. Lastly, I was tired of creating messes all around my campsite (and worrying about bears). But with an easy to clean system, you no longer have to worry about leaking residue on the rest of your gear.
